Nick Bishop

As a member of the Running Bear Running Club, you will be hearing from Coach Nick every week. Nick will offer you weekly training plans, will bring you “live QA sessions”, and podcasts featuring people that will really make a difference to your running! 

Nick has been a competitive runner since primary school where he won the school Victor Ludorum. Once at Senior School, he became a track and cross-country runner, representing Cheshire at both. At that time Nick was a Member of Manchester Athletic Club, when he twice raced against Sebastian Coe!  Having run the inaugural Manchester Marathon In 1981, Nick then ran from London to Manchester with a team of three in five days…two marathons each day for five days! 

Running has always been a big part of Nicks life, and he joined Wilmslow Running Club in 2001. After suffering a number of injuries, Nick started coaching in 2013. As an EA qualified Coach, he is now Coach at Wilmslow Running Club and of course here at Running Bear. Nick is well known in the running community, having had articles published in Runners World, Running & Fitness, and is currently writing a series of articles for Run Britain (The road running body of UK Athletics). The first can be found here.

Angie Jackson

Angela has been involved in treating people in sports at all levels both in the UK and Canada for the last 28 years.

Her major interest is in prevention of injuries. In the last few years she has become a dedicated running physio training with the running school and with blaise dubois from the running clinic in Canada.

The team at Physiofit are passionate about keeping you running pain free. Physiofit was established in 1992 by Angela, with the aim of providing excellence in physiotherapy care.  They are a large team of passionate and experienced physiotherapists who specialise in the prevention and treatment of runners and can quickly establish an accurate diagnosis getting you back running without delay. They will work with you to establish why your injury occurred, teach you how to monitor load and give you a strength programme to ensure return you to sport better prepared than you were before the injury.

Emma Venables

Emma is the Principal Massage Therapist at Premier Sports Massage & Fitness, and is fully qualified with a wealth of experience in treating clients with all varieties of injuries and ailments with her skills extending into Pilates & Circuit Training – strength, flexibility and general fitness are all key for running. Now she’s here to help you Bears be fit and raring to go!

Clare Broomhead

The studio director at Yogalife Alderley Edge. Claire started her yoga journey when she broke her thoracic spine 9 years ago & since then has intenstively practiced yoga. Claire has over 500 hours teacher training – the team at yogalife are here to add a different dimension to your running experience!

Nick Heaton

Nick has a qualification of Level 2 Mental Wellbeing in Sport and Physical Activity awarded by UKA and a Level 2 in Counselling Concepts awarded by the Skills & Education Group. Nick is passionate about the power of running for mental health & wellbeing! This explains his unending enthusiasm for ultra, fell & road running,

Carol Bird

Running Bear ambassador – Carol is in the top percentile for her age group for long distance running. She’s represented England at Masters level as well as Cheshire. Don’t be intimidated by her achievements – she is super-approachable & loves helping runners get started on their journey!

Dr Kate Sutton

An experienced runner across road, trail & fell. Recently retired from being a GP for over 30 years, she’ll be here to help answer your health questions!

Phil Gartell

 

Phil is a triathlete and Ironman and loves his cycling and swimming as much as his running, so if you have any questions other than running he’s your man.

Phil is a qualified running coach and coaches weekly at his local running club. He loves helping others and gets immense pleasure from seeing the progress in people’s running.
