Running Bear Running Club

Running Bear Running Club is an active, inclusive running club open to any ability. We don't judge or tear others down; instead, we build each other up and cheer one another on!

Fully affiliated with England Athletics, we offer everything
you need from a Running Club; or as an additional community to your current one. From competitive racing, Cross-Country events, Track nights and in-house Race Series to social runs, coffee, cake and the more than occasional social night!

Meet the RBRC Experts

As a Running Bear Running Club member, you will have a wealth of experts on hand to help you on your running journey. You will have access to training plans, live sessions and professional advice to help take your running to the next level, whatever your goal may be!

  • Coach Nick - RBRC Head Coach

Nick has an Impressive running pedigree from track to half marathon. He is a commentator for UK Athletics. He has worked professionally in International Sport and is a strong supporter of the local community through park runs. He has received the Community Hero award for services to sport. Nick is a Chairman of Manchester Cross Country League and is a race adjudicator for Northwest of England Athletics. He is a County selector and a Coach for RBRC Interval Sessions.

  • Bill Heaton - Coach and run leader

Bill has over 40 years of running experience on the roads, track and fells and has vast knowledge of all the local places to run. He’s keen to develop runners of all standards and likes to pass on the useful ‘running tips’ that he’s gained over the years.

  • Rik - Club & community lead

Rik is our Running Bear Club & Community Lead. He's our very own IRONMAN! He loves running, cycling and whilst his football playing days are over, he's a life-long Man City fan. He leads our Learn2Run group alongside Carol, helping people to fall in love with running.

  • Pippa - Ladies Captain

12 years ago Pippa decided to set herself a challenge and get fit by signing up for a triathlon thinking her biggest challenge would be getting over her 'dislike' of running. Since then she has done 26 triathlons (plus 405 parkruns, 2 marathons and 18 half marathons after discovering she actually LOVES running!)

She is always willing to share her knowledge of parkruns (is a bit of a tourist), triathlons and also XC.

  • Karen - Race & Social Captain

Ten years ago, Karen was staying with her mum who was in hospital for open heart surgery and had very little to do. There was a running track outside the hospital so she gave it a go, hoping to build stamina for her upcoming karate black belt exam. Now it's running that has her heart, and more recently parkrun and 10k races. She is experimenting with half-marathons and (top secret) harbours a secret hope in her heart to do a marathon one day!

WEEKLY RUN GROUP

Running Bear Running Club organises a number of different run groups every week.

Whether you are just starting out, wanting to improve, hit the trails or just looking for a like-minded community to go running and socialise with, we have something for you.

All are completely FREE to join
in with and if you take part on a regular basis, all we ask is that you affiliate with England Athletics for their small annual fee.

To join England Athletics, please email your full name and date of birth to rbrc@runningbear.co.uk

To find out more about our weekly run groups and to book on to a session, visit www.runtogether.co.uk. Search in Alderley Edge and you’ll find us there.

Wednesday Interval Training

Off-road in the spring/summer and lit road circuits in the autumn/winter, as well as a sprinkling of special track nights to deliver one of the key components of any athletes training plan.

Friday and Sunday Morning Runs
Easy and gentle led runs, usually off-road of between 5 and 10 miles around Alderley Edge. A great way to enjoy the beautiful Cheshire countryside with a group of friends.

Beartown Bustle – Monday Evening
