Meet Coach Nick

Nick has an impressive running pedigree covering road, track, cross country & fell.

With a lifetime involvement in the sport, as a junior with the then Manchester Athletic Club, to his current roles as Head coach at Wilmslow Running Club, Coach at Running Bear Running Club and also The Farm Club. Nick delivers interval sessions to up to one hundred athletes weekly.

Nick started coaching in 2013, but his coaching took off after writing seven articles for British Athletics on sports psychology, resulting in an invitation to visit Iten, "The home of Champions" in Kenya. The chance to mix with the
greats of running and their coaches... the outcome? His own team of athletes in Kenya, a team of supremely talented athletes that he works with. You can read more about Nicks work here.

Nick understands the importance of developing the right mindset as well as the right training programmes. Passionate about helping people to reach their goals, Nick understands how to do it, and in a way that excites the individual. It’s not about the ability... it’s about having a desire to improve, and then together making those dreams a reality.

All athletes
coached by Nick, will also receive a complimentary online version of his
articles on sports psychology.

Working with Nick, you will receive a structured training plan weekly. This will based on an initial introductory call (or meet if local, where this can include a short workout to observe you running). Ongoing weeks will develop based on both your own feedback and ongoing discussion. Any plan has to be dynamic to reflect each individuals progress. Support will always be available by phone, email, or
WhatsApp.

Testimonials

'Nick was my running coach for my first Marathon and honestly, he has been amazing.
Super supportive, really knows his stuff, and just a lovely coach to work with.
He makes training feel achievable, checks in regularly, and takes the stress out of it all.

Couldn’t recommend him more and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without him!'

'Nick is one of the nicest and most knowledgeable people I’ve met. He builds seamless relationships and understands and shares your goals, giving his time and knowledge to help achieve them. He’s also helped me develop not just physically with running but mentally as well and places emphasis on training the mind as well as the body. Always very responsive to any questions I have and a great listener. I can
highly recommend him as a coach!

'Working with Nick has been one of the most transformative experiences of my athletic journey. After stepping away from competitive swimming, I found myself in a difficult place with sport. I had lost the joy, motivation, and sense of identity that came with being an athlete. Running initially felt like just another challenge—something I should do, but struggled to connect with on a deeper level.

Nick changed that completely. Through his thoughtful coaching, individualised training plans, and unwavering belief in my potential, I began to rebuild my confidence and rediscover the joy in movement. His approach goes far beyond just performance metrics—he truly understands the emotional and mental side of sport, and helped me reconnect with why I wanted to run in the first place.

With Nick’s support, I’ve achieved goals I never thought possible. I qualified for the inter-county cross country team for Cheshire and placed 12th at Nationals on the legendary Parliament Hill course—both milestones that felt far out of reach not long ago. But more importantly, because of Nick, I found a renewed love for running and a sense of balance in how I approach training, competition, and wellbeing.

Nick always told me to ‘run with a smile’ and I’m incredibly grateful for his guidance, and would recommend him to anyone looking to grow—not just as an athlete, but in their relationship with sport as a whole.'
