Josh Barrow
In his mid-twenties Josh (@lureofthewild_) decided to switch up an active social life spending his weekends in bars and restaurants in his hometown Hale, Cheshire for something more meaningful 💭 . He moved to the Lake District in 2017, as a complete life overhaul in the pursuit of something better 🌄 .
As a trail-running novice, Josh soon began to routinely run the perimeter of Lake Windermere (26.2miles – a Marathon), on Friday nights ⛵ . Living 100 miles from anyone he knew, he’d get lost in the mountains the rest of the weekend. Often armed just with a fruit of the loom jumper and short shorts in the thick of winter👟.
Josh has run around 25 marathons, including the Great Wall of China Marathon in 2016 😎. A recent highlight was the Pisa Marathon in 2019, which Josh ran in 2:45. He’s set to tackle the Snowdon Mountain Marathon this year.
Now living in Congleton, Cheshire with his girlfriend Sophia, Josh says the sport hurls him into the present, away from the preoccupations of his working life, and helps him take care of himself with more attention and skill🧘♂️ . He says running feels honest and authentic, and one of the few times he feels exactly where he should be.
