A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to receive a pair of the brand new Asics Gel-Nimbus 25 pre-release, to test out, review and ultimately, get a feel of them so that our customers can know exactly what to expect when they try them on!
So what have I been wearing them for?
Following on from a recent Achilles injury (Sigh), I’ve been having to take my running a little bit easier, so getting back into it I have obviously been a little bit wary! I’ve been wearing my ASICS Gel-Nimbus 25 for my everyday road runs, whether short or long and so far, no Achilles problems! (Here’s hoping I’m not jinxing myself!)
Personal first impression on the ASICS Gel-Nimbus 25?
With a cushioned running shoe, I feel like I look for a few things when I first run in them – the support, the bounciness, and the weight.
The Nimbus 25 exceeded all my expectations on all three factors. ASICS have made a neutral shoe that is so comfortable, it even has an award to prove it! The initial step in hits you with a blast of comfort – I genuinely think that instant feel is enough to convince anyone! I have been wearing the Nimbus 25 for a good 4 weeks now and I personally have not got a single bad thing to say about them. The tongue and heel counter hug to the foot so perfectly that it feels they could have been personally molded for my feet. I use them for all my easy runs and will be testing them on both my progression and tempo runs as I feel that they’re comfortable and light enough to work for an array of training.
I had the absolute pleasure, along with Jordanna, to be invited down to the ASICS Gel-Nimbus Launch event and dig deeper into the tech that was put into this trainer and find out all the niche details we needed, to help you guys know about it all too! We met so many amazing people from ASICS Front runners, ASICS reps and the product expert himself, Rohan Van Der Zwet.
Are the Gel-Nimbus 25 the most cushioned running trainer?
ASICS made sure to hold nothing back in ensuring they created the most cushioned running shoe by having the shoe tested. Dr Chris Bishop from The Biomechanics Lab, South Australia, took to the lab to provide an independent comfort test against its competitors. GEL-NIMBUS 25 against three leading competitor shoes and its predecessor, the GEL-NIMBUS™24. The fact that the study involved 130 pairs of shoes, 100 runners, and a total of 250km of running over 25 hours suggests that it was a rigorous and comprehensive test.
How did the ASICS Gel-Nimbus stand up against its competition?
It’s impressive that the GEL-NIMBUS 25 was found to be the most comfortable shoe tested in the study, and that ASICS is able to make a strong claim about its superior levels of comfort based on these results. Of course, it’s worth keeping in mind that individual runners may have different experiences and preferences when it comes to shoe comfort, and that the GEL-NIMBUS 25 may not be the best fit for everyone. But I can most definitely back up this study through my own experience over the last month!
How do the rest of the Bears feel about the Shoe?
Our team will all be trying out the New ASICS Gel-Nimbus 25 over the next few weeks to keep your eyes peeled for their honest thoughts and feelings about the shoe!
It’s worth noting that whilst cushioned shoes can provide excellent comfort and support, they may not be the best choice for every runner. It’s important to consider factors such as your foot type, running style, and personal preferences when choosing a running shoe. Please come by the shop or drop us an email if you wish to have a bit more information on the shoe – or better yet come to our Asics Try On night on the 22nd and give them a spin! I have no doubt they will be your next go to running trainers!
