Book a Gait Analysis at Running Bear
A running Gait Analysis is an important part of any runner's journey.
Gait Analysis is not just reserved for elite athletes; it's a great way to learn more about your natural running/walking style.
It can help to reduce and prevent the risk of injury, caused by wearing the incorrect shoes for you.
Whilst it's important that the trainers you choose to run in are comfortable feel great - they must all support your foot shape, your movement style and be ultimately fit for the purpose intended.
If you're experiencing any niggles or pains during or after running, please don't brush these off - they could be hints of an underlying issue.
If you can't make it into store, our online gait analysis is simple and effective - either way we'll look after you!

See you in one of the Den's soon.
When a gait analysis is performed, we look at two things, primarily, where your foot strikes the ground and how much your feet are pronating. Once this information is recorded, it helps us match your foot's behaviour, size, and shape to the correct shoe type. With the right shoe type, the risk of injury is reduced, and your running form can improve as different parts of your body are no longer compensating for lack of balance.Â
A gait analysis can help identify common causes of running injuries. By looking at the footage, we will determine if your cadence is correct, if there is a lack of core strength or flexibility in the hamstrings and calves, or if you are heel striking.Â
When you arrive for your appointment, Running Bear specialists will discuss your running history and any plans for the future to make sure we get you in the right shoe for the job. Before providing you with advice and guidance, we will assess you either on a treadmill or on the street outside. Please bring along a pair of sports socks and ensure that we're able to see your ankles clearly whilst on the treadmill. It also helps if you bring your old pair of shoes to look at any wear patterns!
One of the advantages of having a gait analysis is the 1:1 attention you will receive from the Bears. In running, the right pair of shoes can elevate your experience. We want you to be able to make an informed decision when it comes to your running shoes. We are happy to discuss your form, running history, and any other questions you may have. In the Running Bear Den, you will also get the opportunity to try different running shoes as you like with a member of our team from our vast selection of stock. If your size/colour is not available, we can also look into ordering the shoe for you. Part of our mission is to help you feel confident in the right pair of running shoes, so please do not hesitate to ask us any questions!Â
Our Running Bear specialists will discuss your specific needs with you; what you've done in the past, what you plan to do in the future and any niggles, injuries or pains you're currently experiencing. We'll assess you on a treadmill or on the street outside (if you prefer!) before providing you with advice and guidance on the perfect shoes for you.
