What are the best trainers for Parkrun?

What are the best trainers for Parkrun?

Well… it’s all dependent on what you’re looking for. We’ve written a quick guide below!

I’m looking for… SPEED

If you want speed think Carbon. We’ve seen multiple PBs come from Carbon Shoes. We love the New Balance FuelCell Range, the RC Elite is their lightest speediest shoe and the TC still has that awesome responsive carbon plate but with a little more cushioning.

I’m looking for… COMFORT

Sometimes it doesn’t matter how far you’re running, you just want that maximum cushioning. Our favourites which are still light but feel like you’re running on that marshmallow soft cushioning are the Brooks Ghost if you’re neutral or the Brooks Adrenaline if you need the stability.

I’m looking for… STABILITY

When you’re an over-pronator like me, one of the trickiest things can be to find shoes that are supportive but not too heavy for my faster races. I’ve found two of the best shoes for this are the Brooks Launch GTS and the Kayano Lite 2. The Launch GTS has that awesome Guide Rail system that keeps my Gait stable, but this shoe is still super light coming in at 229g which makes me feel like I’m flying. It’s also a steal for £100.

Another of my favourites is the Kayano Lite 2. This for me is my most responsive stability shoe. I love the feeling of bouncing along when I’m wearing them. They’re still super cushioned, which means they’re an all-rounder whether you’re running Parkrun or a marathon.

I’m looking for… GRIP

Some Parkrun’s get adventurous, like Lyme Park near us. This means that sometimes you need that extra bit of grip, especially in winter. If you want a speedy grippy shoe, the newly released Saucony Endorphin Trail has that fast feel thanks to the Speedroll Technology. If your parkrun is sometimes muddy but also is on harder paths, it may be worth considering a hybrid such as the Hoka Challenger or Brooks Cascadia.

I’m looking for… SOMETHING LOW BUDGET
